Happy 10/10/10!
I have started training to run the Walt Disney World Marathon (26.2 miles) on January 11, 2011 with Team in Training. This is a division of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This is a great cause, as it helps people with blood cancer in multiple ways, including research to find a cure. They rely on fundraising, from Team in Training, Light the Night, and other fund raising events.

I knew it would be improbable to complete marathon training by myself. When I found out about Team in Training I knew this was the way for me to complete my marathon. I would be runnin g not just for myself, but for people that I have known that have been diagnosed with some form of blood cancer. We have an honoree that we are running for. It happens to be our coach’s daughter, Lauren. After being out of treatment for 5 years, in May of 2010, Lauren is considered cured from Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia.
I need your help in raising the required $3,000 pledge to run the Disney Marathon. This is a tax deductible contribution to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Please do this one of two ways:
- By signing on to my secure WEBSITE now and donate.
- Send a check made out to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
For those of you that are willing to do more on 10/10/10, I would like to challenge you to send this to at least 10 of your friends, a hundred if you are willing, and ask them to donate $10, $20, $50 or more.
I want to thank you in advance for any support that you can give me! I did complete the Asheville Citizen Times Half Marathon and am looking forward to the Disney Marathon. I have been training every week for several months and will continue until race day!
Thank you,
Kevin Franks
